Medical Association and the Newfoundland and Labrador Lung
Association recently recognized the top referring physicians to the
Smokers’ Helpline.
Dr. Dattu Patil, a family
physician at the Eastport Medical Clinic, was the top referring
physician in the first six months of the NLMA-Smokers’ Helpline
program. Dr. Patil referred more than 50 patients for smoking
cessation counseling.
Dr. Punnaran Jacob, a family
physician at the Deer Lake Medical Clinic, and Dr. D.W. Ingram, an
internal medicine specialist at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital in St.
John’s, were also recognized for their efforts to help patients quit
smoking by referring them for counseling with the Smokers’ Helpline. |
