The Directory of French-speaking health providers in Newfoundland and Labrador is an inventory of health care professionals willing and able to provide health care services in French. This initiative was undertaken by the French Language Health Services Network of Newfoundland and Labrador (FLHSN) in collaboration with the Fédération des francophones de Terre-Neuve-et-Labrador (FFTNL), Health Canada and the provincial Department of Health and Community Services.

The network’s mandate is to support and develop French health care planning in all regions where health authorities wish to improve health care access for the minority Francophone communities of the province.

Health Care access is traditionally looked at in terms of waiting times or distance, but can also be affected by social and cultural factors such as wealth, gender, education and language. All health care professionals willing and able to provide services in French are asked to consider participating in this initiative by answering just a few questions on a form that can be found on the Fédération des francophones de Terre-Neuve et du Labrador web site. Forms may also be completed and returned by fax to (709) 722-9904 or mail to: Réseau santé en Français Centre scolaire et communautaire Des Grands-Vents 65, Ridge Road, 2ème étage, bureau 233, Saint Jean TNL, A1B 4P5
