Information Sessions

In March 2010, the Newfoundland and Labrador Medical Association launched a series of public information sessions to inform the public about the gaps in the health care system and how physicians are coping with the deficiencies.

Physicians discuss challenges of providing Palliative Care
May 5, 2010 The Newfoundland and Labrador Medical Association today held its sixth public information session to discuss the challenges of providing and accessing palliative care in Newfoundland and Labrador. The panel was chaired by Dr. Susan MacDonald, Divisional Chief of Palliative Care for Eastern Health, and included St. John’s family physician Dr. Patrick O’Shea and Gander family physician Dr. Eileen St. Croix.

We Need More Doctors
On May 1, 2010, the NLMA launched an extensive television, radio and print ad campaign to highlight the long wait times caused by the serious shortage of physicians in Newfoundland and Labrador.
