Project scope complete for pharmacy network
The Newfoundland and Labrador Centre for Health Information (NLCHI) has completed a project scope for a provincial person-specific pharmacy network.

The Newfoundland and Labrador Centre for Health Information (NLCHI) has completed a project scope for a provincial person-specific pharmacy network. Pharmacy networks have been identified as one of the three core clinical components of the electronic health record by several national organizations. The other core components are laboratory and diagnostic imaging systems.
The project scope for the proposed Newfoundland and Labrador Pharmacy Network defines the overall system requirements to allow for the creation of patient medication profiles and physician electronic prescribing, identification of key stakeholders issues, a high level cost estimate, and key challenges and risks.
The actual Project Scope is several hundred pages long. A synopsis of this report is available on the NLCHI website. NLCHI is interested in all feedback on the pharmacy network as it will be working with government over the next few months to identify funding opportunities for the project.
Please submit all comments to Dr. Gerard Farrell, the NLMA's representative on the NLCHI Board of Management.
